Latest company news about where to get Locomotive Wheelsets with Bearings?

A locomotive wheelset consists of two wheels mounted on a solid axle, designed to transmit traction, carry weight, and guide the locomotive along the rails. When integrated with bearings, the wheelset can rotate smoothly and reliably under extreme loads and high speeds.

Bearings brand can be SKF, TIMKEN, FAG, or other customer request.

Main Components of a Locomotive Wheelset with Bearings

  1. Axle

    • Material: Usually forged from high-grade steel such as AAR Grade F or 42CrMo4., EA4T, EA1N

    • Function: Carries vertical loads and transmits torque from traction motors.

    • Features: Machined journals at both ends to accommodate bearing mounting.

  2. Wheels

    • Forged Steel Wheels: Designed for wear resistance and strength.

    • Standard Sizes: Diameters typically range from 800–1500 mm ,directly offer as per customer drawings.

    • Material: AAR-B,AAR-C, ER7,ER8,ER9,ER6,42 CrMo
  3. Bearings

    • Type:

      • Roller Bearings (tapered or cylindrical) are most common today.

      • Plain Bearings (older designs) are mostly phased out.

    • Mounting: Press-fitted onto axle journals, enclosed in bearing housings.

    • Brands: SKF, Timken, FAG, and others supply locomotive-grade bearings.

    • Function: Reduce friction, support radial/axial loads, and enable wheelset rotation.

  4. Bearing Housing (Adapter Box)

    • Connects the axle and bearings to the locomotive bogie.

    • Often includes suspension and damping elements.

  5. Inspection:UT, MT, hardness test, sizes test, 100% inspection for all goods
