Kingrail rail clamps features:

The Rail Clamp has been engineered to eliminate many of the disadvantages of other traditional rail clamp designs and provides enhanced performance under all conditions of use. The Kingrail Rail Clamp design is radically different to the legacy design and guarantees a positive pre-torque angle so as the bolt is tightened the bolt holes remain aligned, eliminating the risk of bent bolts. Bolts remain straight even at twice the recommended torque.

 

In traditional designs, clamps rotate inward to gain support from the rail. As a result, the bolt bores are no longer concentric and the bolt has an induced bending load and angled contact face. In the new Pandrol Rail Clamp, the clamp geometry ensures selfsupport of the bending load and the bolt does not have to take the load and has a square contact face. The greater proportion of bolt tension results in higher clamping force. The new design has been shown to provide enhanced performance under all conditions of use. As a result, higher line speeds are possible, safety is improved and there are considerable savings in both time and cost.

Technical advantages of Kingrail clamps

Positive pre-torque angle Rail Clamp’s design guarantees a positive pre-torque angle for the bolt, so the holes remain aligned as the bolt is tightened. Tests have proved that bolts stay straight, with no risk of bending, even at twice the recommended torque. Higher clamping force Rail Clamp has a greater proportion of bolt tension and higher clamping force than traditional designs. As a result, rail joint creep and vertical joint deflection are reduced. Self-support of bending load The clamp geometry ensures self-support of the bending load, while reactionary loads are spread and target the rail web. The bolt no longer takes the bending load and has a square contact face. Compatibility The Clamp has been designed to accommodate most rail profiles.

Wide contact points The contact points are further apart than in traditional designs, reducing the friction between the clamp and the rail foot. This increases the clamp load and reduces the force on the rail and stress within the edge of the rail foot. Engineered for quick and easy installation The self-supporting profile of the clamp aids installation. The two clamp profiles lock under the rail and the clamp self-aligns onto the fishplate.
